Green hell switch review6/17/2023 ![]() So, while Green Hell’s requirements of you are fairly simple in nature, they are not by any means easy to achieve. Every inch of this world wants you dead, so every move you make in it needs to be purposeful and calculated. Weapons don’t require much to craft but the stones needed to make good ones are not super easy to find, and will change location on every spawn. Water is easy to find but must either be filtered or gathered from rainfall to be safe to drink. Some mushrooms are good for certain situations, and some are not. It can be done, but don’t expect to come out of the gate swinging without making a lot of mistakes at first. Of the many things that need to be constantly managed are Jake’s health, fatigue, hydration, and a balanced diet. You will be dropped into a hazardous world with a handful of metrics to manage, terrain to familiarize yourself with, resources to gather, and of course, plenty of antagonistic forces to contend with. If you’ve ever played a real survival game from the last ten years or so then you basically know what to expect here. This is certainly a similar sort of tale that you would see from the tribal cannibal movie crazy of the early 80’s but it is also very much its own thing and it’s a story worth seeing if you can survive the game’s many treacherous obstacles – both intended and unintended ones – long enough to do so. While the tone of Green Hell’s story and setting might remind you of Eli Roth’s Green Inferno, don’t let the superficial similarities lead you to think they are somehow related to one another. It’s a survival game for survival game enthusiasts, and as such, it will take every opportunity it can to hand your ass to you. The coconut halves can be used to boil water to make it clean, cook soups, or set them outside and collect clean rainwater.Green Hell is not a game that should be taken lightly in any sense. You can drink the water for hydration, eat the meat for carbs, and you can turn the shell into a sort of canteen to carry water, or break it in half to use as bowls. I found the coconut to be the most versatile tool in the game. Survival is fun because I was able to experiment on what to make and how to identify plants, I needed to craft things like bandages and other items needed to survive. I have two saves that I played with, one in story mode and one in survival. In a pinch, having these mushrooms allows you to drink bad water or contaminated food if you are far away from camp or in a tight spot. Thankfully, there are specific types of mushrooms that cure parasites. There is plenty of vegetation to pick from, but eating too much, or drinking bad water, will give you parasites. A severe deficiency in any one of these can lead to difficulty performing simple tasks - or death. You have hydration, fats, protein, and carbs. Green Hell takes it a step forward by dividing up your nutrients into macro counting. Like most survival games, you need to eat and drink to survive. You must find clean water, make fires, build up your camp, and explore in order to sustain yourself. ![]() Some might find this frustrating, but it fits with the idea that you have to figure out how to survive. The game really throws you into the fire with no real handholding. ![]() When I said the early game serves as a basic tutorial, that was an understatement. There are angry jaguars, venomous snakes, and numerous other perils awaiting as you explore the jungle to try and make it to the next day. ![]() To make a long story short, your GF goes missing and it is up to you to survive and find out what happened to her. You and your significant other travel to the Amazon to make contact with an indigenous tribe. The story mode for Green Hell works as an early tutorial that slowly introduces you to the basic mechanics of the game. I am happy to say that I am a massive fan of this game. Initially released in 2019, it has built a huge following and continuously has updates which bring new aspects to the game. Green Hell is a game I’ve heard about for some time.
